What we buy
We buy across the whole range, from a single coin somebody left you to fifty years of collecting. Bullion and common material is paid straight against the live market, and anything a collector would actually want is read on its own terms and paid for accordingly. No fees come off the top, nothing goes on consignment, and the number holds the day it is made.

Every dime, quarter and half dated 1964 or earlier, plus dollars, Eagles and rounds. One coin or a full jar, and the jar gets looked through before it gets weighed.
PCGS and NGC holders, key dates, genuine mint errors, proof sets and early type coins, priced off auction results rather than a chart on the wall.
Gold, silver, platinum and palladium in bars and rounds, from a single ounce to a full kilo. Known refiners and sealed product bring the closest rate.
Blue-seal silver certificates, large-size notes, Texas national bank notes and star notes. This is the category that gets spent by accident most often.
Karat gold in any condition at all, broken, bent, single or dental. Tested and weighed on the counter in front of you, 10K through 24K, plus sterling.
How it works
Call 903-200-8805 and describe it any way you can. "A tin of my dad's old silver" tells us plenty. No lists, no photographs, no identifying anything beforehand.
The lot gets sorted and checked while you sit there, against the metals market as it stands that hour and against what collectors are paying. A handful of coins takes minutes. A whole estate takes an hour and does not get hurried.
The offer is written down and split into groups, with the reason beside each line. Ask about any of it. Nothing is charged and nothing is assumed.
Agree and you are paid on the spot, cash or a same-day wire on larger amounts. Say no and the coins go home with you along with the written figure.

903-200-8805Behind the figure
There is no mystery in a coin offer. Every number rests on public market data and published references, and we would far rather walk you through it than ask you to take it on faith.
Bullion and common coins ride the live market, and that market moves all day long. Quantity helps too, since a real amount of clean familiar material is easier to move on than a few odds and ends.
Scarcity is what lifts a coin above its weight. Small original mintages, and years that got melted down or spent away, carry premiums that have nothing to do with what the coin weighs.
Condition multiplies scarcity. A certified coin arrives with that settled. A raw one we grade conservatively, because being wrong about it is our risk to carry and not something to push onto you.
Same silver, different money
Two Morgan dollars can hold identical silver and be nowhere near each other in value. One is a common year in worn shape and sits close to its metal. The other came out of a small mintage that rarely surfaces, and collectors will pay a large multiple to own it. Weigh them together and only one of the two gets paid what it is actually worth.
Where we buy
People drive in from all over. Some are fifteen minutes out in Whitehouse or Lindale, others come across from Longview and Kilgore, or up from Jacksonville, or east from Athens and Canton.
A fair number turn up after an online buyer quoted them a figure off three photographs. Somebody with the coins actually in hand finds value a picture cannot show, and it happens often enough that the drive keeps paying for itself.
When a collection is big, heavy, or simply not something you want riding in the truck, ask about a buyer coming to it instead. For a real estate that is usually the better arrangement.

Mail a collection off and you have given up the only leverage you had. Across a counter they remain yours until a number is agreed and you can stop the whole thing at any point.
The ceilings are lower than most people assume and a genuine estate can clear them several times over. None of that is a concern when the buyer is half an hour up the road.
Luster, hairlines from an old cleaning, the crispness of a strike. Those are the difference between melt value and collector value, and a phone camera catches none of them.
A written figure travels with you. Carry it to another dealer, think about it overnight, or run the metal arithmetic yourself. A buyer who bristles at that has told you what you needed to know.
Versus a pawn counter
A pawn shop buys gold well under the market because it has to turn inventory quickly and support a storefront running five other lines of business at once. We sell into a network of collectors, investors and auction houses, and that difference alone is why the figures here can run higher.
Market price, weight, purity, and any premium, laid out so you can follow every step. We will happily show you how to pull the live metal figures up on your own phone.
Coins are the whole business here, not one counter among six. There is no script to run through and no reason at all to hurry you along.
A pawn counter puts an inherited collection on a scale because that is the only tool it has. Here it gets split into groups and the collector coins get paid as collector coins.
Cash over the counter or a wire the same business day. No consignment window, no waiting to see what somebody else gets for it later.
FAQ
Tyler Coin Buyers works from a downtown office and buys throughout Smith County and East Texas. We are coin people rather than a pawn counter or a jeweler who dabbles, and every figure traces back to current market data. Collections go best by appointment, so ring 903-200-8805 first.
Ordinary pre-1964 dimes, quarters and halves are paid on the silver genuinely in them at the price silver holds that hour. Bigger lots earn a closer rate, and the better dates get pulled aside and paid above melt instead of being weighed in with the rest.
Please do not, and this is the mistake that costs sellers the most. Cleaning strips off the original surface collectors pay extra for and there is no undoing it. A coin that looks brighter to you can sell for a fraction of what it would have. Bring everything untouched.
It comes down to metal content, date and mint mark, condition, and how many survive. None of that needs settling before you arrive. Working it out is the appraisal, it costs nothing, and the reasoning gets explained as we go.
Bring it exactly as you found it, uncleaned and unsorted. The whole thing gets cataloged, the coins with real collector value get separated from the bullion and the spending money, and you leave with an itemized written figure. Estates are a large share of what we do.
Yes. Accept the offer and you can walk out with cash up to the daily limit, and larger totals go out by wire the same business day.
U.S. dimes, quarters and half dollars dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver, so the base figure follows the live silver price times the silver weight in the coins. It shifts through the day, so call for a current number rather than trusting one posted last month.
Yes, along with Buffalos, Maple Leafs, Philharmonics, sovereigns and other government-issued gold. They are paid on weight and fineness against the live gold market plus whatever premium that particular coin carries.
